Uranium hexafluoride UF6

Nuclear fuel cycle component that is produced from uranium ore concentrate, which comes from mines around the world. Solstice uses its proprietary dry fluoride volatility process recognized for its efficiency, reliability and safety to produce UF6.

Overview
Uranium hexafluoride (UF6) is an essential component of the nuclear fuel cycle. UFis produced in the “front end” of the nuclear fuel cycle, after the uranium ore is mined, milled and refined. Solstice uses its proprietary dry fluoride volatility process – recognized for its efficiency, reliability and safety – to produce UF6. After this conversion process, the UFis enriched and then converted to uranium dioxide by other service providers as part of the fuel fabrication process. The fuel is used within nuclear reactors to generate electricity.
