Solstice Employees Around the World Unite for the Inaugural Summer Solstice Week of Service

The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year – a moment when the sun reaches its highest point, and light stretches to its fullest. It’s a symbol of brightness, energy, and possibility. This June, Solstice Advanced Materials turned that symbolism into action.

From June 15-21, 2026, Solstice employees around the world came together for the inaugural Summer Solstice Week of Service, our first global community engagement initiative since becoming an independent company. From manufacturing plants to our headquarters, from research labs to administrative offices, our teams found creative ways to give back to the people, places, and partners that make our communities thrive.

Around the World, in a Week

Across the United States, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan, India, and beyond, Solstice teams organized volunteer activities reflecting the unique needs of their countries and communities, and the diversity of cultures that make Solstice strong. The scope and creativity were extraordinary, and no two efforts looked quite the same.

Many teams turned their energy toward the environment. Employees cleaned coastlines, organized recycling drives, collected e-waste for responsible disposal, and even creatively combined movement with impact – like “plogging,” picking up litter while jogging. From Nam Rin Beach in Chonburi, Thailand, to the roads surrounding our offices in Columbia, Missouri, volunteers showed up to protect the shared spaces that connect us all.

Others focused on investing in the next generation. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Solstice partnered with the Greater Baton Rouge Industrial Alliance to host local teachers from underserved communities, introducing them to chemical plant career pathways they could bring back to their classrooms. In Spokane, Washington, more than 345 employees competed to collect school supplies for a local STEM school. Teams across Mexico donated essential supplies to children’s homes and spent time with young people at organizations like Fundación Saya in San Luis Potosí – offering not just resources, but presence and connection.

At our headquarters in Morris Plains, New Jersey, employees partnered with Morristown Meals on Wheels to build 300 “go-bags,” decorated flowerpots, and wrote heartfelt letters for recipients. The event had a tremendous turnout that captured the spirit of the week. In Colonial Heights, Virginia, the Spectra team joined forces with Habitat for Humanity, cleaning and organizing the Habitat ReStore and working on a disabled veteran’s home that’s under construction. Employees at our Metropolis, Illinois, site organized drives for domestic crisis shelters, providing hygiene items, childcare supplies, and essentials for women and children seeking safety.

And the work isn’t over. In Pune, India, a team is gearing up to visit an orphanage with groceries, sanitary supplies, and the gift of quality time. This is one of many efforts still taking shape around the world, a reminder that the spirit of service doesn’t belong to a single week on the calendar. Solstice community volunteerism extends well beyond the summer solstice carried forward by the belief that showing up, with your hands, your time, and your heart, makes a difference whenever and wherever it happens.

Serving with Purpose

At Solstice, we believe strong communities and resilient businesses are inextricably linked. Summer Solstice Week of Service reflects who we are at our core – not only the science, innovation, and materials we create, but the people behind the innovations and the impact they choose to make.

Across nearly every region where the company operates, employees stepped away from their daily work to clean coastlines, pack meals, mentor students, and support neighbors in crisis.

That spirit of generosity is woven into the fabric of Solstice Advanced Materials. It shows up in the scientist who mentors high school students, the plant operator who organizes a blood drive, and the engineer who spends a morning painting a summer camp for children with disabilities.
