Solstice Introduces High-Purity Chromasolv™ LC-MS Solvents for PFAS Analysis

New methanol, water and acetonitrile solvents with more than 99.9% purity help laboratories reduce the risk of false or misleading results in sensitive PFAS testing

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J., Aug. 19, 2026 – Solstice Advanced Materials (NASDAQ: SOLS), a global leader in high-performance specialty materials, today announced the launch of high-purity Chromasolv™ LC-MS solvents for per‑ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) analysis. The new offering includes methanol, water and acetonitrile solvents with more than 99.9% purity specifically evaluated for ultra-low PFAS background, helping laboratories reduce solvent-related interference in sensitive PFAS testing.

Compound-specific identification at trace concentrations is particularly demanding, as the term PFAS encompasses chemically distinct compounds that vary in structure, properties and environmental behavior. As such, specific methods have been established to detect PFAS molecules at extremely low concentrations.  At those levels, even trace PFAS molecules already present in a laboratory solvent can interfere with testing, making it more difficult to determine whether a detected compound came from the sample or from materials used during the analysis. This interference can increase background signal, produce false-positive detections or require laboratories to repeat testing.

The global market for PFAS testing across environmental, industrial and research applications is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11% over the next eight years, increasing from $378 million last year to over $1 billion by 2034, according to Fortune Business Insights.

“PFAS analysis requires laboratories to operate with a high degree of confidence at extremely low detection levels,” said Evelyn Kennedy, General Manager, Lab & Therapeutic Production, at Solstice Advanced Materials. “By expanding the Chromasolv portfolio with high-purity solvents specifically evaluated for PFAS analytical workflows, Solstice is helping customers minimize solvent-related background and support reliable testing where accuracy and reproducibility are critical.”

High-purity Chromasolv LC-MS solvents for PFAS analysis are tested for ultra-low PFAS background to help laboratories reduce this potential source of interference. The products are intended for environmental and analytical testing laboratories, quality-assurance and quality-control laboratories, and academic and government research organizations conducting PFAS analysis of water, soil, consumer goods or other matrices.

In third-party testing, all PFAS compounds evaluated in the new Chromasolv LC-MS solvents were below applicable reporting limits across three production lots each of water, methanol and acetonitrile. The evaluation covered 40 PFAS compounds and used workflows based on EPA Method 1633A for water. ASTM D7979 method was used to test methanol and acetonitrile and was modified to include an expanded list for a total of 29 analytes. The results help demonstrate the solvents’ suitability for sensitive PFAS analysis.

The new products expand Solstice’s Chromasolv portfolio of high-purity chromatography solvents and its broader Lab and Research Chemicals offering. Chromasolv solvents are manufactured to support low-noise performance, consistent separations and reliable results across demanding analytical workflows.
