Climalife and Solstice Advanced Materials collaborate to accelerate the lifecycle management of refrigerants
VINCENNES, FRANCE, 25 June 2026 – Climalife, a leader in thermodynamic solutions and refrigerant lifecycle management, and Solstice Advanced Materials Inc. (Nasdaq: SOLS), a global leader in high-performance specialty materials, have formalised an agreement to build on their long-standing working relationship and advance circular economy solutions for refrigerants across Europe.
Under the agreement, Solstice will support the development of new reclamation capacity at the Climalife production site in France. Climalife’s next-generation distillation unit technology is designed to process and purify increasingly complex refrigerant blends.
This collaboration combines Climalife’s leadership in circular economy solutions with Solstice’s expertise in advanced, low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant technologies, enabling a more integrated and scalable approach to the performance and lifecycle management of next-generation refrigerants across the European market.
The increasing complexity of next-generation refrigerants—including hydrocarbons, CO₂ and HFO blends—along with considerations such as flammability and high pressure, is reshaping the needs of the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump (RACHP) sector. Addressing these challenges requires both continuous innovation in fluid technologies and advanced infrastructure to enable efficient recovery, purification and reuse.
The Climalife production site, located at the Osiris industrial park in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, is continuing its industrial transformation and is set to become a hub of excellence for the circular economy in Europe. Work is currently underway for the installation of a new distillation unit comprising three columns. This unit will enable the treatment and purification of complex refrigerant blends, maximising recovery efficiency and supporting circular use.
Since the implementation of recovery systems in Europe by Climalife, more than 48 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent have been avoided, and 75% of fluorinated greenhouse gas waste has been recovered and reused. With this new technological step and the combined expertise of both partners, the carbon emission reduction potential is estimated at more than 15 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent by 2030.
The collaboration also builds on extensive research conducted with European research centers, which has led to the development of patented technologies by Climalife that support innovative solutions for fluorinated gas reclamation.
